What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is placeholder text commonly used in design, publishing, and web development to demonstrate the visual elements of a document or layout without relying on meaningful content. The text is derived from a scrambled portion of Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, a 45 BC Latin text on ethics. This makes it ideal for showing how text will appear in a design without distracting viewers with actual content meaning.
Designers and developers use Lorem Ipsum because it allows them to focus on layout, typography, and visual hierarchy without being distracted by readable content. It helps clients understand that the design is a mockup, not final content. While the text appears Latin-like, it's intentionally scrambled so it's not readable, preventing viewers from focusing on the meaning rather than the design itself.
Our Lorem Ipsum generator is completely free and runs entirely in your browser. You can generate text by paragraphs or sentences, choose how much you need, and even skip the traditional opening line for variety. The one-click copy feature makes it easy to paste the placeholder text directly into your design tools. Remember that Lorem Ipsum is only for mockups and wireframes—you should always replace it with real content before publishing.
